Editorial Design

I am extremely proud of the magazines that I Art Direct and Design. There is something so special about taking the words on a page that tell a story, and adding imagery to help with the telling. When I work on Editorial Design, it takes me to a different part of my brain, where the little girl that loved Nancy Drew lives. I seek out images that I can weave throughout the story that relate directly to the events or people featured in the article. I hire photographers to meet with subjects pertinent to the story, and direct them to connect the dots that is the author’s, photographer’s, subject’s and my vision on how this story should be told. I absolutely love stories that relate to history. It is a wonderful challenge to find images of past events to help tell the story. Sometimes I find stories can relate to me on a very personal level, and I push myself to think beyond my own thoughts and convey the message of the bigger piece.
