A local subject was featured in this story, and we utilized a dark and somber feel to tell the story of a man who managed to turn his life around after being imprisoned. In the story he mentioned that he was proud his mom had finally been able to see him living life without prison, and I really wanted to reflect that pride in this story. I wanted readers to read that quote and see the imagery that invokes a feeling of pride and accomplishment.
